Clipper and Employee Transit Benefit Programs

For Employees

Clipper is easy to use with your pre-tax transit benefits!

If you have a commuter debit card:
Add value to your Clipper card online, at transit agency ticket machines or offices, and at Clipper Add Value machines or Customer Service Centers. Not accepted at retailers.

You can use your commuter debit card to set up Autoload for automatic reloading, but Clipper recommends you set up a regular credit card as a backup payment method in your account. If funds are not available on your transit benefit card, Clipper will charge your backup card. You will get your order, and your Clipper card will not be blocked due to insufficient funds.

If you get transit vouchers:
Load passes and/or cash value onto your Clipper card at any participating Clipper retailer, transit agency ticket office or Clipper Customer Service Center. Find Clipper locations here. We suggest calling retailers ahead to confirm that they accept your type of voucher.

If you use an online pre-tax benefit account:
Follow your benefit provider's instructions to set up automatic loading of value to your Clipper card.

Other pre-tax benefit programs:
Many third-party commuter benefit providers offer the option of having transit value loaded directly onto employees' Clipper cards. Ask your provider if they offer this—and make it even easier for your employees to ride transit with Clipper.
